2021 PAD Fall Symposium Recap
​
The PAD hosted the Fall Symposium at the Hershey Lodge and Convention Center September 23-25. We had 99 people register for the meeting and 26 exhibitors. Attendees and exhibitors were greeted Thursday evening with a welcome reception that followed a dinner symposium. The CME portion of the meeting began on Friday morning with fantastic presentations from Joslyn Kirby, MD on “Modern Management of Hidradenitis Suppurativa” and Rose Elenitsas, MD on “Diagnosis of Melanocytic Lesions with Clinical Pathology Correlations.” Lorraine Rosamilia, MD presented “The Other Viruses: Update on Non-COVID Infection Management” followed by Chrysalyne Schmults, MD’s presentation on “Managing the Spectrum of SCC.” Past PAD President Jeffrey Miller, MD rounded out the morning presentations with “What’s New in the Diagnosis & Treatment of Hair Loss Disorders.”

​The PAD held its Annual Business Meeting where the membership elected the following officers and at-large directors for 2022: Joslyn Kirby, MD, President; Alexandra Flamm, MD, Vice President; Nadia Sundlass, MD, PhD, Treasurer; Alaina James, MD, At-Large Director; Gopal Patel, MD, At-Large Director; Ninad Pendharkar, MD, At-Large Director; and Justin Vujevich, MD, At-Large Director.
After lunch Zelma Chiesa Fuxench, MD presented on “Advancing Care for People Living with Moderate to Severe Atopic Dermatitis” followed by a live video stream of Susan Taylor, MD’s presentation on “Key Tips for Managing Pigmentation Issues in Skin of Color Patients.”
Grand Rounds finished out the day of education with presentations by Robert Duffy, MD from Cooper, Michelle Pitch, MD from Geisinger, Kristina Lim, DO from Lehigh Valley Health Network, Colleen Silva, MD from Penn State Hershey Medical Center, Shanthi Narla, MD from St. Luke’s Hospital, Hannah Anderson, MD from Thomas Jefferson University, Arianna Yanes, MD from University of Pennsylvania, and Emily Dando, MD from UPMC.
DermTech was our Resident Sponsor for the Fall Symposium, and they hosted a reception for residents and PAD members to end Friday’s events.​
​Saturday’s half-day of events began with a presentation on “JAK/TYK2 Inhibition: New Frontiers in the Treatment of Psoriasis” by Seemal Desai, MD. PAD’s Dermatologist of the Year Award was presented to Adam I. Rubin, MD during the Presidential Address and Awards Ceremony. Renee J. Mathur, MD was awarded a Presidential Citation for her efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic and Laura K. Ferris, MD, PhD was presented with the President Award. Rose Elenitsas, MD was also recognized as she will be finishing out her term on the PAD Board of Directors. Dr. Elenitsas has been a board member since 2010.
The highly anticipated return of Harry Nevus took place during the Quiz Bowl. Dr. Nevus had a sidekick Spilus who helped award Mikael Horissian, MD with the coveted title of Quiz Bowl Champion.​
The education concluded with a live stream of Sue Ellen Cox, MD’s presentation on “24,000 Syringes Later: Augmentation with Hyaluronic Acid Filler.”
