Public Health Education Fund
The Pennsylvania Academy of Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery (PAD) is dedicated to actively educating Pennsylvania’s youth about sun safety. To further its mission, the PAD created the Sun Defense Essay Contest as a way to engage elementary school students about the dangers of overexposure to the sun. 2020 winner Whitfield Elementary is working with the Whitfield Home and School Association to create a lasting structure on the grounds of the elementary school.
In 2021, the PAD and American Society of Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS) are partnering for the Sun Safety Poster Contest to have students show their artistic talents in depicting sun safety behavior. Sun Safety Educational Poster Contest
