Annual Melanoma Wednesday
May 6, 2020 10 AM- 2 PM Pennsylvania State Capitol, East Wing Rotunda Volunteer Opportunity Dermatologists will offer free skin cancer screenings to legislators, state workers, and members of the community. This event will not only benefit those being screened but will also give the Academy the opportunity to draw media attention to help educate the public about the importance of early detection and prevention of skin cancer. Melanoma Wednesday is an effort to promote the dermatologist’s role in diagnosing skin cancer and the Academy’s commitment to reducing the incidence of and mortality from skin cancer. Your role would be to screen visitors for skin cancer and answer questions about both sun and indoor tanning damage and protection. Thank you to the volunteers and participants for the 2019 Melanoma Screening event at the Pennsylvania State Capitol on May 1, 2019. The PAD did over 30 skin screenings and met with many legislators to discuss upcoming legislation the change the current tanning facility law (Act 41 of 2014) to allow only those 18 year old and over to use a tanning facility and to discuss HB 1194 (Prior Authorization/Step Therapy). 2019 Melanoma Screening: For additional information or to volunteer, please contact the PAD office at 866-650-3376 or info@padermatology.org.
